Judging Process

All applications and portfolios are read by by a shortlisting panel. The shortlisted schools go through to the ‘finals’. The applications and portfolios from these schools are then read by completely new set of independent judges – teachers and play experts – who make the final decisions.

Our last Judging Panel was made up of professionals from CABE, Gemin-i, Edcoms and Charlie Chaplin’s Adventure Playground in Lambeth, London.

They make recommendations to the Junior Panel. The Junior Panel is made up of previous winning students and their decision is final.  Full training and support is provided to ensure that they keep to the strict judging criteria when making their choices.

The Junior Panel decide which lucky school groups will be granted the Awards, which include a monetary prize of up to £10,000.

Each year the Junior Judging Panel changes as new winning teams take over.
